England Women sink Jamaica 7-0 with Ella Toone twice on target

England won their UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 send-off match 7-0 against Jamaica at Leicester City FC.

Jess Carter saw her angled shot diverted just beyond the far post by the boot of goalkeeper Liya Brooks, before Engl;and took a tenth minute lead as Ella Toone struck from 20 yards.

The Reggae Girlz thought they had levelled 10 minutes further on but Kayla McKenna’s effort was disallowed after a VAR check, with a team-mate offside in front of goalkeeper Hannah Hampton.

England’s lead was doubled just after the half-hour mark, Lucy Bronze heading home a cross from Carter.

Lauren Hemp hit the far post and Alessia Russo thumped the ball against the bar, before in first-half added time Toone got her second goal of the game via an upright.

Georgia Stanway scored the fourth before the hour, with Jamaica unable to clear their area.

Brooks took the ball of the feet of Beth Mead as she threatened to score, but Russo nodded in number five from a Lauren James delivery.

Aggie Beever-Jones was denied twice in a couple of minutes by one-handed saves from Brooks, before stretching to turn in Niamh Charles’ low cross.

then in added time, Mead squeezed in England’s seventh goal of the game.

The Lionesses kick off their EUROs Group D games on Saturday 5 July against France at 8pm (BST), live on ITV1.
