Three additional players will join up with the Wales team in Switzerland as training players for this summer’s UEFA Women’s EUROs.

Tianna Teisar (Bristol City), Mary McAteer (Sunderland) and Scarlett Hill (Manchester United) will be travelling with the team from the Portugal training camp later today, as they arrive in Switzerland this evening.

All three players have been involved in senior team camps over the last twelve months, and the opportunity will help the team prepare for the tournament, which begins against the Netherlands on Saturday 5 July.

During the team’s time in Portugal for a training camp, Soffia Kelly, Gwen Zimmerman, Mared Griffiths, Annie Wilding, Amy Richards and Teagan Scarlett have also been involved as additional training players.

Speaking about the training players, head coach Rhian Wilkinson said: “Firstly, I would like to thank all the players that have been involved in our training camps, both in Cardiff and then in Portugal ahead of the EUROs. They have played a huge part in our preparations for the EUROs and the experiences will be key for their development and the team following the tournament.”

“It will be great to involve Mary, Tianna and Scarlett in Switzerland. They will play an important role in making the environment the best place possible for our preparations, and I hope they enjoy the experience as we use the tournament to also have one eye on the future.”

Wales’ time in Switzerland will begin with a public training session at their team base in Weinfelden, welcoming approximately 300 guests from schools and the local community to meet the team ahead of the start of the tournament.
