Republic of Ireland were 1-0 winners over Slovenia but had required a four-goal victory to ease their visitors off top spot in the UEFA Women’s Nations League group.

They were up and running inside 20 minutes in Cork, as Saoirse Noonan headed in from a Jessie Stapleton cross.

While Slovenia are promoted to League A, Ireland will face a promotion play-off against a side finishing third in that top tier.
