Man City overcame a strong start by Brighton to beat them 4-0 in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup Final, in front of a crowd of 43,917 at Wembley Stadium.
Manchester City goalkeeper Ayaka Yamashita was injured while rushing out to block Madison Haley, with Marisa Olislagers seeing her shot stopped by Alex Greenwood on the line before the whistle blew.
Fran Kirby, with only Yamashita to beat, saw her effort blocked, and Kiko Seike sent the rebound over the top, as Brighton started much the stronger.
But Man City stepped it up as Grace Clinton and Khadija Shaw forced saves in quick succession from Chiamaka Nnadozie, and in the 38th minute Greenwood’s cross found Shaw, who headed home as the keeper tried to gather the ball.
The league champions doubled their lead in first-half added time when Shaw won a free kick just outside the box, and Greenwood struck it into the bottom corner.

The Seagulls couldn’t start the second half like they did the first. Seike did manage to force a save from Yamashita, but Aoba Fujino took her time to fire City into a commanding 3-0 lead.
Nnadozie tipped a Shaw strike over the bar and Fujino’s shot onto the post moments later but couldn’t keep out Vivianne Miedema’s header from a Kerstin Casparij cross.
Manchester City Women’s Director of Football, Therese Sjögran, said afterwards: “This is a fantastic way to end a special season for Manchester City. I’d like to congratulate Andrée [Jeglertz’], the staff and all the players for the role they’ve played in this success.”
“Having won the WSL earlier this month, it’s testament to the professionalism, hard work and mentality of this team that we have kept going to make an already amazing season a truly special one.
“We go again in 2026-27 on our return to European football but, tonight at least, we will reflect on and celebrate what has been a remarkable season.”
