Women’s Competition First for the Transplant Football World Cup

The 2026 Transplant Football World Cup in Frankfurt am Main showcased the first-ever women’s competition of its kind.

Played at the FSV Stadium in BBBank Arena, Team United — a combined squad of players from all participating nations — secured the first women’s title in TFWC history.

Team United registered three clear victories to finish top of the table, while Great Britain & Northern Ireland were runners-up after a 3-2 win over third-placed Germany and a 3-0 defeat of Australia.

Diana Stolz, local Minister for Family, Seniors, Sport, Health and Care, who conducted the award ceremony for the women’s tournament, said: “Organ donation can save lives and give severely ill people a new outlook on life. At the Transplant Football World Cup, we see firsthand what a transplant can achieve. These athletes compete for their countries, test themselves on the pitch, and demonstrate impressively just how much is possible again afterward. That is a powerful message for organ donation, courage, and joy in life.”
