Lye Town and Wycombe Wanderers Women Secure Promotion to the FA WNL

Regional Leagues Round-Up: Lye Town and Wycombe Wanderers Women followed Bradford City’s midweek promotion to the FA WNL, while Knowle and Yeovil Town were also crowned champions, and Saltdean United lifted their League Cup.

EASTERN – Knockout Final Double Header

Finals Day – Sunday 10 May sees the League Cup and Plate finals at Bedford Town FC, with Harpenden Town taking on Premier Division champions Stevenage for the Cup at 3pm, preceded by Wroxham versus Haringey Borough in the Plate at 10.30am.

EAST MIDLANDS – Worksop Finish With Big Win

Premier – SJR Worksop took seventh spot from Anstey Nomads with a 10-1 thrashing of Wellingborough Town.

1 Central – On Wednesday, 6 May, West Bridgford are scheduled to host Nottingham Trent University at Regatta Way Sports Ground.

1 North – Dronfield Town will finish third if they win away to Cleethorpes Town on Sunday, 10 May.

LONDON & SOUTH EAST – Saltdean Lift League Cup After Shoot-Out

Premier – Title-hopefuls Dartford scored a 3-1 win at Ebbsfleet United on Wednesday and followed it up with a 2-0 victory at Dorking Wanderers on Sunday. Brentford grabbed the points with a 3-1 win at Millwall Lionesses, while Ebbsfleet United finally got off the mark against Newhaven thanks to a Lauren Nicoll winner, and Barking were held to a 1-1 draw by Aylesford. On Tuesday, 5 May, Ebbsfleet face Aylesford at the Kedbull Leisure Complex, and on Wednesday, 6 May, Sutton United take on Ashford Town at Gander Green Lane.

1 North – Actonians Reserves held the title-chasing Hammersmith to a goalless draw on Wednesday, before Camden Town defeated Hackney 4-1 on Thursday. Dulwich Hamlet Reserves beat AFC Greenwich Borough 4-2, helped by a Shakirra Sesay double and backed by a crowd of 312, to leapfrog them into sixth spot.

1 South – Champions Eastbourne Borough completed an unbeaten campaign with a 4-1 victory over Montpelier Villa in front of 157 fans. Runners-up Saltdean United Development overcame fourth-placed Leatherhead 4-2, while Hastings United netted all three goals at Sevenoaks Town.

League Cup Final – Saltdean United eventually edged lower-division Bromley 3-1 on penalties after a goalless deadlock. Megen Lynch was the penalty hero, and Dani Lane put away the winning spot-kick.

NORTH EAST – Bradford City Crowned Champions, South Shields Reach Cup Final

Premier – Bradford City beat Harrogate Town 4-0 in their last match on Wednesday, taking the title from Thornaby by two points. Harrogate lost 3-1 at fourth-placed Spennymoor Town over the weekend, and Alnwick Town scored the only goal at Ossett United to clinch third spot.

1 North – On Thursday, Redcar Town secured a 4-2 win over hosts Hartlepool United, with the latter bouncing back to score six at Wallsend BC Reserves on Sunday. i2i International Soccer Academy went top with a similar result at Park View, but Birtley Town will be champions if they win at lowly Wallsend BC Reserves this Tuesday, when Park View also face Gateshead Rutherford at Riverside Sports Pavilion. Washington’s Sophie Slasor scored the decider in a 2-1 victory at Berwick Rangers, while Stockton Town beat Rutherford 3-1, helped by Talia Korucu scoring twice.

1 South – Mid-table Lower Hopton drew 1-1 at Leeds Modernians with a Summer Hadwin goal, despite the 14th-minute dismissal of Olivia Grogan. That opened up a title chance for Handsworth, who won 1-0 at Altofts with the hosts having Tallulah Freeman shown a red card, but they need to put six past Lower Hopton on 17 May to take top spot. Elsewhere, Rossington Main were 5-2 winners over York City Development.

League Cup – South Shields edged past Birtley Town 2-1 on Thursday to secure a spot in the final, with Julie Raffel scoring twice, her second coming just three minutes from the end of regulation time. They will be joined by either Leeds Modernians or Bradford City, who clash on Wednesday, 6 May.

NORTH WEST – Deva Stadium Trophy Double

Finals Day Two trophies are up for grabs at Chester FC’s Deva Stadium on Sunday, 10 May, with Bury facing FC St. Helens for the Alliance Design & Print Plate at 12pm, followed by Mancunian Unity against Chester in the Alliance Design & Print Cup with a 4pm kick off.

SOUTHERN – Wycombe Wanderers Take Title After Rivals Deadlocked

Premier – Wycombe Wanderers are champions after a 2-2 draw between title rivals Winchester City Flyers and AFC Portchester, meaning neither could catch them. Reading edged Oxford City 2-1 on Thursday, while Oxford’s Emily Harris scored a couple as they responded with a 5-3 victory at Woodley United. Reading will face Portchester at Slough Town FC this Wednesday, 6 May.

1 North – Denham United dominated Ascot United Reserves 13-2 on Tuesday, with Annie Hewitt and Brogan Moore each scoring a hat-trick. Ascot then went down 4-2 at home to Kidlington. Penn & Tylers Green are close to securing the runners-up spot after a 6-4 win at Oxford City Development, while Tilehurst Panthers drew 2-2 with Farnborough, for whom Laura Quinn-Low netted a 10-minute brace.

1 South – Havant & Waterlooville stunned champions elect Farnham Town 6-2 to take top spot from them, but who are left with four games to retake pole position. Andover New Street edged Bournemouth Sports Reserves 2-1 in a meeting of third and fourth, while Shaftesbury claimed just a second victory, 2-0 over Bursledon, thanks to a double from Nicola Castle.

Shield Services Group SOUTH WEST – Draw Enough for Yeovil Town to Finish Top

Premier – Forest Green Rovers grabbed a 2-1 win at AEK Boco on Tuesday to keep their title hopes alive, then followed it up with a narrow 1-0 victory over Poole Town thanks to an Ella Pemberton goal. AEK Boco delayed Torquay United’s celebrations with an 88th-minute equaliser, but the Gulls look set to be champions if they avoid defeat in their final match at Sherborne. Gloucester City clinched fourth place with a 2-1 win at Sherborne Town.

1 North – Stockwood Wanderers got the better of second-placed Royal Wootton Bassett Town on Thursday, with Toni Blenkinsopp’s goal after the break sealing a 3-2 victory. Wootton Bassett substitute Megan Young scored in a 2-1 win over Cirencester Town, despite a red card for Poppy Wannell, knocking Corsham off the top on goal difference. Bitton, the third title hopeful, defeated Mangotsfield United 4-2 with help from Isabella Tweddle’s two goals. Whitchurch put four past Downend Flyers, while Bath City beat Stockwood Wanderers with two unanswered goals. Paulton Rovers host Bath City this Wednesday.

1 South – Yeovil Town claimed the title with a 1-1 draw at Weston-super-Mare, who therefore had to settle for second place.

Divisional Cup Final – Bitton and Weston-super-Mare play for silverware at Portishead FC on Tuesday, 6 May.

WEST MIDLANDS – Lye Town and Knowle Both Secure Top Spots

Premier – Lye Town’s title was confirmed as Shifnal Town could no longer catch them following a 3-3 draw with Solihull Moors. Coundon Court edged a nine-goal thriller against Coventry Sphinx, led by a Jessica Lundie hat-trick. There were 3-0 results for Port Vale versus Leek Town and Redditch Borough against Burton Albion, while Shrewsbury Town beat Alvechurch 3-1. Midweek fixtures: Tuesday – Hednesford vs Coundon at Keys Park, Weds 6 May – Redditch Borough vs Solihull Moors.

1 North – Chasetown completed the fixtures with a 4-0 win at Telford Town, where there were two goals apiece for Chloe East-Goodman and Karen Harrigan-Clough.

1 South – Knowle edged past Bromsgrove Sporting 3-2 with two goals from Trina Greaves and one from Katherine Fleming, moving out of reach of Droitwich Spa to clinch the title with two games still to play. Crusaders beat Redditch United 2-1 thanks to a Danielle Selmes double, while Hereford FC’s 3-0 win over Long Itchington was boosted by two goals from Mylie Jordan. Long Itchington had beaten Bromsgrove Sporting 3-1 on Wednesday, as Jessica Lingham netted twice. On Thursday 7 May, Halesowen Town will face Worcester City Reserves at Stourport High School & Sixth Form College.
