Republic of Ireland came from behind late on to win 2-1 away to Türkiye and keep up their hopes of promotion in the UEFA Women’s Nations League.

Selda Akgoz turned a Lucy Quinn shot over the bar and dived to deny Katie McCabe a goal, while Courtney Brosnan saved from Miray Cin and Aoife Mannion was on hand to block the rebound from Ebru Topcu.

Kadar Hançar opened the scoring in Istanbul four minutes into the second half, set up by Ilayda Civelek who had burst into the box.

A Megan Campbell long-throw forced an own-goal, as Busem Seker headed past her own keeper.

With one minute of the 90 left, McCabe’s cross found Emily Murphy who made no mistake.

Ireland next host Slovenia in Cork on Tuesday, needing a win to stand a chance of taking top spot.
