Hibernian Women beat Hearts to hold SWPL top spot

Hibernian and Glasgow City stay first and second respectively in the ScottishPower Women’s Premier League, while Montrose boosted their survival hopes.

Hibernian won the Edinburgh derby at Hearts to stay top of the league by three points, with three games left in the title race. Kathleen McGovern’s brace had Hibs in command, Lauren Wade got Hearts back in it but Eilidh Adams restored the two-goal cushion.

Second-placed Glasgow City beat Celtic as Nicole Kozlova struck twice and Brenna Lovera once by half time, Lucy Ashworth-Clifford later replying.

Rangers hit Motherwell for six but are still two points outside the Champions League places. Katie Wilkinson netted five time including a penalty, Mia McAulay getting the other goal.

Aberdeen 2-0 Partick Thistle
Queen’s Park 1-2 Dundee United
Montrose 2-1 Spartans 

Montrose defeated Spartans to go level on points with them, in the battle to avoid going into the relegation play-offs. Georgia Carter’s opener was cancelled out by Cacee McKenna, before Louise Brown headed home the decider on 74 minutes.

Aberdeen are within two points of sixth-placed Partick Thistle after beating them 2-0, Hannah Stewart’s early goal added to late on by Ellie Cowie.

Dundee United were 2-1 winners at Queen’s Park with Megan Burns on target either side of Abby Callaghan’s leveller.
