Everton Women have signed Slovenian international midfielder Zara Kramžar on loan from AS Roma, with an obligation to make the deal permanent this summer.

She started her career at ŽNK Ljubljana, and her impressive performances for Slovenia’s development teams earned her a call-up to the senior squad in November 2022.

A move to Roma saw her help the team win their first-ever league title in 2023, while she also made her Champions League debut and was named the best young international talent at the 2023 European Women’s Football Gala.

Kramžar told evertontv: “I feel so excited. I think we all worked a lot for this. I am happy to be here and start my journey.

“It is nice to be the first Slovenian in the WSL. I am excited to show on the pitch what I can do now.

“I enjoyed playing in Italy but I’ve always wanted to go to England, I think it is the best league in the world. I am excited to see the level here.”
