Durham Women have signed forward Olivia Fergusson, who played last season in Spain’s top flight with Espanyol.

She has helped both Bristol City and Leicester City get promoted to the top flight and made over 200 senior appearances across many clubs.

The winger also spent time with Aston Villa, Yeovil Town, Sheffield United and Coventry United, Celtic and Wolves.

She scored five times in 22 games for Australian A-League side Wellington Phoenix before heading to Spain last term.

Fergusson told durhamwfc.co.uk: “I’m really excited. It felt like the right time to be back home – I had some amazing experiences abroad but it feels really good to be back.

“I’m a forward – I like to be direct and quite aggressive and passionate in my play. I like to work hard out of possession and then create things going forward.”
