Brighton Women’s Chris Roberts Departs to Pursue a New Opportunity

Brighton Women’s assistant head coach Chris Roberts has left the club to pursue a new opportunity.

He left Everton in the summer of 2024 to join Dario Vidosic’s coaching staff. In his first season, he played a key role in guiding the team to a historic fifth-place finish in the WSL, and the following year, the club reached the Women’s FA Cup final at Wembley for the first time.

Roberts said: “I have loved working with everyone associated with Brighton and Hove Albion. Everyone from the players to the staff, has been exceptional. It has also been a pleasure to work with Dario. He is without doubt one of the most talented football managers in the game and working with him has been a privilege.

“It’s been a difficult decision to leave the club, but, on a personal level this opportunity allows me to be back with my family and the last year has taught me that family must remain a priority.

Head coach Dario Vidosic added: “Chris has been a key pillar of the technical staff for the last two years. From a professional standpoint, he drove elite standards every day at the club. From a personal perspective, he has been so supportive since I joined the club from Melbourne City. He played a huge role in helping me settle into the job and was a constant source of support and guidance. He will be deeply missed at the club.”

Women’s and girls’ managing director Zoe Johnson said: “We’d like to take this opportunity to thank Chris for his key contributions over the last two seasons including our highest league finish in 2025 and appearing in the FA Cup final in May. We understand the personal sacrifice he had to make and respect his decision to return north. We wish him nothing but the best for the future.”
