With the decision on the UEFA Women’s EURO 2029 host just over a week away, the German FA (DFB) mobilised nationwide support with a WE’29 Celebration Weekend.

Germany faces competition from Poland and a joint Denmark-Sweden bid to host the finals. Italy and Portugal had earlier withdrawn from the process.

Clubs across Germany united behind the country’s bid, reflecting the shared vision of “Together WE Rise.” In stadiums across the Bundesliga, 2. Bundesliga, 3. Liga, the Google Pixel Frauen-Bundesliga and 2. Frauen-Bundesliga — as well as at grassroots level — teams, coaches and referees demonstrated their support through coordinated on-pitch activations and unified WE’29 moments.

This surge of support underscores the continued momentum of women’s football in Germany, building on the launch of the ‘WE’29 Champions’ programme last week and recent unprecedented matchday attendances — including a record crowd of more than 57,000 at the Google Pixel Frauen-Bundesliga opener between FC Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen, and 37,000 at Germany’s UEFA Women’s Nations League semi-final in Düsseldorf.

Germany’s bid to host UEFA Women’s EURO 2029 aims to harness this momentum for the benefit of women’s football across Europe. With seven of the eight proposed stadiums having capacities of more than 45,000, the tournament is projected to welcome more than one million fans, alongside expanded opportunities for knowledge-sharing across UEFA National Associations.

DFB President Bernd Neuendorf said: “The WE’29 Celebration Weekend showed that support for this bid runs deep—from the Bundesliga and Frauen Bundesliga to local clubs in every region. It was a celebration of what we’ve built together and a statement of intent about where we want to go. The unity of German football is one of our greatest strengths, and it was on full display.”

DFB Vice President for Women’s and Girl’s Football, Heike Ullrich, added: “Every match, every club, and every fan who took part was part of something bigger. WE’29 is not just a bid—it’s a movement to grow women’s football at every level. The weekend brought that spirit to life and showed Europe the passion that exists here in Germany.”
