Sheffield United Women sign former academy graduate Jess Reavill

Sheffield United Women sign Jess Reavill

Sheffield United’s latest signing sees the return to the club of former academy talent Jess Reavill.

The 19-year-old spent last season in the FA Women’s National League where she starred for Stoke City in an impressive individual campaign, the latest which has seen her continue to gain plenty of first team experience since she departed the Blades back in 2022.

Reavill, who has also represented England at youth team level, had initially joined the club in 2021 from Leicester City and became a key part of the team which reached the semi-finals of the FA Youth Cup, going on to make the bench for the first team squad on several occasions towards the end of the 2021/22 season.

She returned to the Foxes though after they gained promotion to the Barclays Women’s Super League, making her senior first team debut as a 17-year-old with a full debut against Manchester United.

The defender, who can also play in the middle of the park, spent time at West Brom during the 2023/24 season, gaining the attention of the Potters who she joined on a permanent basis last summer.

Reavill said: “I’m really happy to be coming back. I was here as a 15-year-old in the academy and towards the end of that season I started to get around the first team, so for me this feels like an itch which needs scratching.”

Head coach Ash Thompson commented: “I’m really pleased to bring Jess back to the club. She was part of the academy squad here when I first joined and soon got herself around the first team even at such a young age. She’s developed a lot in the time she’s been away, and I hope we continue on that pathway together here.”
