Celtic Women Super-Sub Makes Stoppage-Time Breakthrough

Celtic Women substitute Shannon McGregor scored in added time to defeat Motherwell 1-0 in the ScottishPower SWPL.

Celtic left it late to secure their fifth straight win on Friday against Motherwell. With seven minutes of the 90 remaining, Shannon McGregor came off the bench and made the breakthrough.

Rangers regained the top spot on goal difference after scoring three goals in the space of eight minutes against Aberdeen. Laura Berry scored twice and Katie Wilkinson made it 3-0 just after the half-hour mark, with Melissa Regmi replying for the Dons.

Hearts stayed third in the table with the only goal of the match at Spartans, as Carly Johns scored in the first half assisted by Keri Halliday.

Hibernian thrashed 10-player Montrose 6-1 as Libby Smith bagged a hat-trick. Tiree Burchill, Aoife Colvill, and Jasmine McQuade also scored for Hibs, while Scarlett Herron netted an own goal just moments before Chloe Gover’s 68th-minute dismissal.

Glasgow City had to come from behind in their 4-1 win over Partick Thistle, with Abby Robinson scoring first. Erin McLaughlin levelled before the break, followed by goals from Linda Motlhalo, Lisa Forrest, and Yuuka Kurosaki.

Boroughmuir made it five straight wins with four first-half goals at Renfrew, where Amy Denholm struck twice.

Kilmarnock are three points off the leaders after a 3-0 result over Livingston, while Falkirk in third matched that score against Gartcairn.

Queen’s Park leapfrogged Dundee United into fourth spot with a 2-1 away victory, Ellie Kane scoring the decisive second goal.

Hamilton moved up to sixth after a 2-1 win at St Johnstone, coming from behind with goals from Chloe Muir and Josephine Giard.
