Wales Women beat Czechia 3-1 at Cardiff City Stadium in World Cup qualifying to clinch promotion from League B.

An early exchange of goals saw Czech goalkeeper Olivie Lukasova’s clearance reach Michaela Khyrova, who took the ball between two defenders and slotted home, before Sophie Ingle set up Lily Woodham to fire Wales back on level terms.

Katerina Kotrcova hit the post, and moments later Wales passed up a chance to score with the goalkeeper out of her area.

Rhian Wilkinson’s side had turned it around early in the second half, as Gemma Evans was allowed an unchallenged header from Ceri Holland’s free kick.

A strong run from Holland and a cross set it up perfectly for Mared Griffiths to make it 3-1 in the last 20 minutes.

The closest Czechia got to a comeback was a shot onto the bar in added time.

Wales now await the World Cup Qualifying play-off draw on 18 June that will determine their first and potential second round opponents.
