The Lionesses were comfortable 2-0 winners over Iceland, making it back-to-back victories at the start of their 2027 World Cup qualifying campaign.

Lauren Hemp headed against the post before Lucy Bronze got up to nod a Lauren James cross home for a 21st-minute lead at the City Ground.

Bronze later saw her header bounce back off the upright, as the Lionesses were limited to a single goal from a dominant first half.

Iceland almost scored with their first effort on goal, but Hannah Hampton scooped Sandra Maria Jessen’s header just over the angle of post and bar.

The lead was eventually doubled with a dozen minutes of the 90 to go, Bronze’s cross volleyed into the bottom corner by Georgia Stanway.
