Bosnia and Herzegovina Net 13 in Women's World Cup Qualifier

The 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Matchday 2 featured a huge win for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

League A

Group 1 – Italy 1-1 Denmark, Serbia 0-0 Sweden
Group 2 – Netherlands 2-1 Republic of Ireland, France 4-1 Poland
Group 3 – England 2-0 Iceland, Ukraine 1-3 Spain
Group 4 – Norway 0-4 Germany, Slovenia 1-0 Austria

Martina Piemonte headed Italy in front against Denmark, and although Pernille Harder saw her penalty for the Danes hit the post, Olivia Holdt levelled after the hour mark.

Netherlands edged the Republic of Ireland 2-1 as Lineth Beerensteyn scored twice, the second coming late on after Katie McCabe’s equaliser from the penalty spot. France defeated ten-player Poland, aided by a Marie-Antoinette Katoto double and the dismissal of Nadia Krezyman just before half-time.

Lucy Bronze and Georgia Stanway scored as England beat Iceland, Spain’s 3-1 result over Ukraine was set up by late first-half goals from Edna Imade and Lucía Corrales.

Norway conceded twice in first-half stoppage time as they lost 4-0 at home to Germany, while Slovenia took the points against Austria with a long-range Zara Kramzar strike.

League B

Group 1 – Wales 6-1 Montenegro, Albania 1-5 Czechia
Group 2 – Northern Ireland 0-1 Türki̇ye, Malta 1-4 Switzerland
Group 3 – Portugal 4-0 Slovakia, Finland 3-1 Latvia
Group 4 – Scotland 7-0 Luxembourg, Belgium 5-0 Israel

Hannah Cain and Mared Griffiths each netted two goals as Wales cruised past Montenegro, Klára Cvrcková and Michaela Khyrová did likewise for Czechia away to Albania.

Ece Turkoglu took advantage of a defensive error to score the only goal as Türkiye beat Northern Ireland, Switzerland’s Iman Beney and Alisha Lehmann scored early goals in Malta, and despite a reply from Maria Farrugia, the Swiss secured a 4-1 win.

Ana Capeta’s first-half double set Portugal up for a 4-0 victory over Slovakia, while Ria Öling’s brace for Finland was complemented by Oona Sevenius as they beat Latvia 3-1 with Adelina Engman assisting with all their goals.

Kathleen McGovern and Jenna Clark both scored twice, while Caroline Weir provided four assists in Scotland’s sinking of Luxembourg. Tessa Wullaert hit a hat-trick as Belgium put five past Israel.

Group 1 – Bosnia and Herzegovina 13-1 Liechtenstein, Lithuania 0-0 Estonia
Group 2 – Croatia 0-1 Kosovo, Gibraltar 0-5 Bulgaria
Group 3 – Hungary 1-0 Azerbaijan, North Macedonia 3-0 Andorra
Group 4 – Greece 2-0 Faroe Islands
Group 5 – Cyprus 0-4 Romania

Eleven different players made it onto the scoresheet for Bosnia and Herzegovina as they overran Liechtenstein, over whom they had a 10-1 half-time lead.

Modesta Uka’s 13th-minute goal for Kosovo was enough to secure victory in Croatia, Gibraltar conceded three late goals and a red card in the defeat to Bulgaria.

Veatriki Sarri converted a second-minute penalty as Greece beat the Faroe Islands.
