Rhian Wilkinson will be announcing Wales’ squad for the UEFA EURO Women’s 2025 finals on 19 June on the top of The Wyddfa, the country’s highest summit.
The Wyddfa summit, sitting at 1,085 metres above sea level, overlooks the Eryri National Park in north Wales and the squad will be announced in a special press conference and media session at Hafod Eryri on the mountain summit.
The squad announcement on Thursday 19 June will involve a series of activities in the Gwynedd area throughout the day, including a football festival on a Cymru Football Foundation funded pitch in Talysarn and a Q&A evening with live music in a local venue.
The squad announcement marks Wales’ first ever appearance at a women’s major tournament and aligns with UEFA’s tagline for the finals in Switzerland, ‘the summit of emotions’.
Speaking about the announcement, Rhian Wilkinson said: “Being able to announce our first ever major tournament squad on Wales’ summit will be a truly special occasion. The area is very close to my heart having visited regularly with my family during my time growing up in Wales and since then, and it is also a place that’s incredibly special for several of
our players.”
“We hope that hosting the event on the summit will showcase our country’s natural beauty and will help put Wales on the world stage during our participation in this summer’s EUROs.”
Meanwhile, Wilkinson and her side are currently preparing for their final UEFA Women’s Nations League matches. Wales match against Italy at the Swansea.com Stadium (6:30pm Tuesday 3 June) will be the side’s last game until the EURO finals, and tickets are still available on the FAW ticketing website.
