Wales Women suffered a 5-2 home defeat against Poland in a friendly international match held at Newport County FC.

Wales were ahead after just five minutes, Anna Filbey’s shot was blocked but Elise Hughes was able to force the rebound over the line.

Poland turned the game in their favour with two goals in the space of seven minutes, before the half-hour mark.

Nadia Krezyman levelled following a short corner, and Milena Kokosz scored from outside the box, despite a hand from goalkeeper Olivia Clark.

A frantic couple of minutes saw Krezyman’s second goal quickly answered by Carrie Jones, only for Paulina Tomasiak to make it 4-2 for the Poles.

Clark made three saves moments apart, but Klaudia Jedlinska later made it 5-3 with a perfect finish from a tight angle.
