Friendly International Round-Up: Australia beat Mexico 3-1 in an end-to-end clash at the CommBank Stadium, while South Africa Women pulled off a 1-0 win over Japan.

The Matildas took the lead when Alanna Kennedy spun to force the ball home after a corner wasn’t cleared, before Montse Saldivar won possession outside the box and crossed for Diana Ordóñez to sweep home the equaliser.

Sam Kerr’s shot off a Lily Carpenter cross hit the post and went into the net off the back of goalkeeper Esthefanny Barreras.

Kennedy would have doubled her tally after the break, but her effort struck Carpenter with a painful blow to the ribs.

Australia survived a scrap on the edge of their six-yard box, but they extended their lead as Caitlin Foord marked her 150th cap with a shot into the bottom far corner.

Japan went down to a 1-0 defeat against South Africa, who scored after just nine minutes through Glasgow City’s Linda Motlhalo with a header from Refiloe Jane’s corner.

Nigeria scored three times in 17 second-half minutes against Senegal, with Joy Omewa’s double complemented by a goal from Asisat Oshoala.

Lyon’s Melchie Dumornay scored twice and Lourdjina Étienne added Haiti’s other goal in a 3-1 victory over Equatorial Guinea in Spain.

Jamaica‘s Deneisha Blackwood missed a first-half penalty in a goalless draw with Panama.

Saudi Arabia‘s 4-0 defeat of Sri Lanka in Thailand saw all the goals scored in a 13-minute spell.

Cook Islands scored a 3-0 win over the Afghanistan team, who returned to international action with a double-header in New Zealand.
