Trefelin and Wrexham Foresters Cause Bute Energy Welsh Cup Upsets

Trefelin and Wrexham Foresters both beat more senior opposition from Tier 2 in the Bute Energy Welsh Cup second qualifying round.

Trefelin – who hold a 100% record in the South Wales Combined League – knocked out Adran South team Cascade 3-1, with Lauren Amor, Lianne Hopkins-Beynon, and Jessica Curran as their scorers.

Kirstie Kural quickly brought Central Wales North League side Wrexham Foresters level with Felinheli of Adran North, going on to register a hat-trick in a 4-2 win.

Annest Roberts gave Llanystumdwy the lead at Berriew who soon equalised with a Samantha Jones penalty. The tie eventually went to penalties and was decided by a save from Llanystumdwy’s Sara Lacey.

Llandudno came from behind to eliminate Connah’s Quay Nomads 2-1, with Jasmin Dutton scoring the winning goal in the 82nd minute.

Amber Brown scored the only goal as Llangefni Town secured victory at Llanfair United.

Carmarthen Town came through 2-1 at Llanelli Town, where Flavia Jenkins netted the decider in front of a crowd of 120.

Annabel Stokes struck four times in the last 20 minutes as Pure Swansea defeated Johnstown 7-0.

Cardiff Met crushed new team Ystradgynlais as Millie-Mai Lewis and Esme Kilburn-Thompson top-scored with four goals each.

Flint Town matched that score against Kinmel Bay, with Rosie Hughes contributing their first two goals.

Undy’s three-goal hero Danielle Buckland twice levelled to help secure a 5-2 victory at Morriston Town.

Evie Henshaw scored inside the first minute on the way to a hat-trick during Llantwit Fardre’s 6-3 victory against Penydarren.

Cwmbran Celtic’s Susan Cridland bagged a quick brace at the end of the first half, as her side won 4-0 at Penclawdd.
