Sunderland Women came from behind to win the derby clash at Durham 3-2 in the Barclays WSL 2.
A Durham break saw Lucy Watson play a perfect ball for Tyler Toland, whose shot hit the crossbar and stayed out.
But the hosts did take a first-half lead, as Mollie Lambert was gifted a tap-in when goalkeeper Grace Molloy parried Abbey Jones’ cross-shot.
Sunderland equalised in the 64th minute, Katie Kitching diverting a cross from Katy Watson into the far corner of the net.
Mared Griffiths came off the bench for her Sunderland debut and, within six minutes, broke into the box and blasted the visitors ahead.
Marissa Sheva struck from outside the box to make it 3-1 in stoppage time, and Leyla McFarland got a second for Durham two minutes from the final whistle.
The result moved the Black Cats within a point of seventh-placed Nottingham Forest with a game still in hand, and left Durham ninth but only four points off the bottom.
