Only goal difference separates the top two in the Barclays WSL 2 title race going into the penultimate match day, with the pair set to clash in the final round of games.

With a superior goal difference over both their promotion rivals, Birmingham City could put one hand on the Barclays WSL 2 trophy with a win on Sunday over Ipswich Town, but their visitors were boosted by a midweek victory that moved them three points clear of the bottom.

Any dropped points could spell trouble for the WSL founder members, as they head to Charlton Athletic on the final day – Saturday, 2 May – after missing out on promotion to London City in the last match of the 2024-25 season.

Charlton are right on the Blues’ heels and playing away at Southampton, while Crystal Palace are three points behind and visiting Sunderland at the Stadium of Light, before finishing up at home against basement side Portsmouth.

Pompey are two points adrift at the bottom and playing Nottingham Forest at Fratton Park, with Durham next-to-bottom and clashing with Sheffield United, just a couple of points better off.

Bristol City have home advantage over Newcastle United in the battle to finish fourth.

Manchester City will finally end Chelsea’s faint hopes of retaining their Barclays WSL title if they avoid defeat at Brighton on Saturday, while all three points would put them on the verge of becoming champions.

Chelsea are at Everton on Sunday, Arsenal are engaged in their UWCL semi-final home leg with Lyon, while fifth-placed Spurs play Man Utd in fourth.

Liverpool welcome West Ham for a clash between the sides just above the relegation places, and basement side Leicester City – four points from safety – visit London City.
