Spurs Women Storm to Victory With Seven Second-Half Goals

Spurs Women thrashed 10-player Crystal Palace in the Barclays WSL, while Aston Villa and Everton scored important late goals.

Spurs thrashed 10-player Crystal Palace with seven goals after half time to go second in the table on goal difference.

Palace’s Fuka Tsunoda was sent off after just seven minutes for a foul on Cathinka Tandberg.

Spurs were kept out until early in the second half, when Olivia Holdt stabbed home a Victoria Pelova cross.

A dozen minutes later, Holdt had her double, firing into the roof of the net after controlling Signe Gaupset’s pass.

Holdt completed her hat-trick with a 20-yard shot that Pauline Peyraud-Magnin couldn’t keep out.

Pelova soon added a fourth goal for Spurs from the edge of the area, Shekiera Martinez then got through on goal to score at the second attempt.

Amanda Nilden was played in by Matilda Vinberg to make it 6-0, before Pelova coolly doubled her tally.

Brighton paid the price for not taking their chances as Aston Villa secured a draw with a late leveller.

A Fran Kirby corner on the half-hour led to Gabby George reacting quickest to open the scoring for Brighton.

But the hosts could not add to their lead that they had for almost an hour, and Villa took advantage as a cross-shot from Lynn Wilms beat goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie to claim a point on the road.

Both teams sit on two points from their three matches so far.

Everton grabbed all three points at West Ham with a stoppage-time own goal, to make it to wins from three games.

Yuka Momiki’s 94th-minute free-kick resulted in Laia Codina heading the ball into her own net.
