Sheffield United Women sign striker Amy Andrews

Amy Andrews signs for Sheffield United

Sheffield United sign striker Amy Andrews from fellow Barclays Women’s Super League 2 side Newcastle United.

She has penned an initial one-year deal with an option of a further year withy the Blades through to 2027, after scoring twice in seven starts for Newcastle, plus two more goals in the League Cup against Manchester United and Liverpool.

Andrews said: “I feel buzzing, I’m just so happy to be here. I had some good conversations with Ash [Thompson], he made me feel very valued and that’s how I want to be feeling around this point of my career, so I’m very happy to be here.”

Head coach Ash Thompson commented: “We always knew coming into this summer a striker was going to be key to our recruitment, and I’m delighted we’ve managed to sign someone of Amy’s calibre. Over the past two seasons, Amy has shown her unique blend of pace and power, as well as being a proven goal scorer at this level against top WSL teams in all competitions, and I couldn’t be more thrilled we’ve managed to bring her to the club.”
