Sheffield United Women sign Lauren Thomas

Sheffield United have signed Lauren Thomas, a winger with recent Barclays Women’s Super League experience.

She enjoyed a successful five-season spell with Blackburn Rovers in the Barclays Women’s Championship, her performances earning her a move to Everton last summer.

Thomas is a product of the Liverpool academy and during the 2018/19 season made her senior debut for the Reds as a teenager, which also included a WSL debut, before joining Blackburn in 2019.

Thomas said of her move: “I’m absolutely buzzing to be here. Speaking to Ash [Thompson] and getting a good vibe from him really helped my decision. I think the way in which the club is going this season is a massive opportunity for the club to grow and get places, so that attracted me here.”

Head coach Ash Thompson commented: “Lauren brings a lot of qualities to the attack we were looking for. She’s fast, direct, experienced at this level and has gained experience at the level above last season too. She’s joining us at a really good point in her career and I’m looking forward to seeing what she can do with us this season.”
