Sheffield United Women have kicked off their January transfer window by bringing in talented young midfielder Simone Sherwood on loan from Barclays WSL side Leicester City.
The 19-year-old has already made multiple appearances for the Foxes’ first team and has been a regular name in England youth team squads over the past few seasons.
A product of the Leicester City academy, Sherwood made her top tier debut against Manchester City in December 2024 at the age of just 17, going on to score her first senior goal on her full debut in the League Cup against Birmingham City later the same month.
The midfielder, who can also play a more defensive role, represented the young Lionesses at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup before signing a new deal with the Foxes last summer.
Speaking about her move to for the second half of the season, Sherwood said: “I’m really excited to try and help the team but also develop my game as well this season.
“It’s been good. All the girls have been really welcoming and it’s nice to have a few familiar faces to help on the first day.”
