Sheffield United Women have made West Ham and Türkiye midfielder Halle Houssein their latest summer signing, on a season-long loan deal.
The midfielder has made multiple appearances in the top division for the Hammers and has been a regular in the senior national team squads since switching her allegiances back in 2024, bringing more top-level experience to Bramall Lane.
Born in England, Houssein’s promising talent was spotted by the prestigious Arsenal academy where she progressed through the ranks quickly, making her senior debut at just 16 against Reading.
She joined West Ham later that season where she gained more first team opportunities before a loan to the Royals for the duration of the 2023/24 campaign, making 13 appearances in Barclays Women’s Super League 2.
A former England Under 19s international, Houssein can represent Türkiye through her family and made her senior debut back in 2024 in a UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 qualifier against Switzerland and has been a regular squad member ever since.
Now looking to gain further first team experience in S2, Houssein is looking forward to the season ahead.
“I’m really excited to be here. It’s a great opportunity and a great club, a great team and a great city, so I’m excited to kickstart the journey.
“I didn’t really know anyone but my first day everyone made me feel really welcome, everyone made me feel very welcome from minute one I walked through the door.”
Head coach Stephen Healy added: “Halle is someone I know from my time at West Ham United and someone we’ve been monitoring for a while, so we’re really pleased to get her to Bramall Lane for the season.
“She fits the profile of players we’ve been signing this summer, someone young enough to develop but experienced in terms of having played senior first team football at the top level, as well as internationally with Turkey, so we’re delighted to be able to get this deal done.”
