The Scottish Womens Premier League have announced the appointment of Grant Jarvie Motherwell FC Director to the SWPL Board

The Scottish Women’s Premier League have announced the appointment of Grant Jarvie, Motherwell FC Director, to the SWPL Board.

Grant joins the Board as a SWPL Club Appointed Director following the SWPL Annual General Meeting on 10 June 2025.

In addition to being a Director at Motherwell FC, Grant is the Chair of Sport at the University of Edinburgh. Holding this position has enabled Grant to support countries, communities, governments and football associations realise and evidence the power of football, fan engagement and sport, all over the world. He was involved in bringing into being the Scottish National Para Football Association, Scotland’s University for Sporting Excellence and the National Training Centre at Inverclyde and has recently worked with Hibernian, Hearts, Queen’s Park and Barcelona.

Fiona McIntyre, SWPL Managing Director, said: “We are delighted to welcome Grant to the SWPL Board and look forward to working with him. He brings significant knowledge and experience from across the sporting and academic landscape, within Scotland and further afield. This, alongside his passion for women’s football and his commitment to widening access and creating opportunity in sport, will undoubtedly be of great value to the SWPL.

“Clubs have a vital role in the SWPL governance structure, and these appointments reinforce that, ensuring Clubs continue to hold a representative majority on our Board.”

Grant Jarvie, SWPL Club Appointed Director, said: “It is a real privilege to have been elected to the Board of the Scottish Women’s Premier League. I am grateful to Motherwell for nominating me. I look forward to serving the SWPL and stakeholders and working to further enable girls and women’s football in Scotland to continue to flourish in Scottish clubs, communities and beyond.”

Grant’s appointment to the Board comes following the departure of Chris Duffy from his role at Celtic at the end of the 2024/25 Season. He had served as a SWPL Board member since its inception in 2022 and made a significant contribution during his tenure.
