Scotland captain Rachel Corsie is set to retire following the upcoming UEFA Women’s Nations League matches against Austria and the Netherlands.
During her nineteen-year career, she made 154 international appearances and scored 20 goals for her country, while her club football included spells in Australia and the USA, finishing up with Aston Villa.
Corsie told scottishfa.co.uk: “This has been the hardest decision that I’ve ever made. My heart and my head want me to continue, but I know this is the right moment for me.
“It’s been a wonderful journey and when I look at where the game is now, it gives me great pride to know that I’ve played a part in that.
“To play for Scotland has been one of the greatest things I’ve ever done, and I’ve felt so much pride in leading this team for so many years. I’ll hold those years and memories close to my heart forever.”
SWNT Head Coach, Melissa Andreatta said: “Rachel is an amazing servant to the game and has proven her quality time and time again.
“You can see the resilience she’s shown to battle back from her latest injury and she’s made no secret of the fact that representing Scotland has always been her motivation.”
