Nottingham Forest have signed Scotland international defender Kirsty Smith from Barclays Women’s Super League side West Ham United.

Smith has 60 caps for her country, played at the 2019 World Cup and spent seven years at Hibernian until joining Manchester United, who she helped get promoted to the WSL.

She joined West Ham in 2022 and made over 50 appearances for the top-flight side.

Head coach, Carly Davies, told nottinghamforest.co.uk: “We are delighted to bring a player of Kirsty’s calibre and experience into the squad.

“Her versatility, experience, and work ethic will be invaluable as we continue to build a competitive and ambitious squad.”

Smith added: “I’m excited to be here, knowing all of the history of the club, it’s really ambitious and I’m delighted to have signed.

“Speaking to Carly and seeing her style of play as a head coach – I’m excited to get on board and work with her.”
