The Irish FA has launched a consultation on the structure of the Northern Ireland women’s football pyramid.
The consultation is part of the association’s ongoing commitment to develop and strengthen the pyramid, which is a priority in the women’s football strategic plan ‘Together We Thrive: Elevating the game for everyone’.
Angela Platt, IFA Director of Women’s Football, told irishfa.com: “We want to hear directly from those at the heart of the game – players, coaches, referees, administrators and club officials – to ensure the future framework reflects their experiences, needs and aspirations.
“Whether they are involved at grassroots level or in the top tiers of the game, their voice matters.”
A key part of the ‘Together We Thrive: Your voice in the future of Women’s Football’ consultation is a survey, which can be accessed here.
Platt said feedback from the survey will help inform future developments around league formats, competition structures, development pathways and support systems for everyone involved in the women’s game.
She also explained the consultation is aimed at ensuring the women’s football pyramid supports sustainable growth and performance, strengthening the transition from youth to senior football and improving representation and opportunities across all roles. Another aim is to build a structure that reflects the evolving needs of the game.
“The consultation will provide an opportunity for all of those involved in the women’s game to help shape a more inclusive, competitive and thriving future for women’s football in Northern Ireland,” she added.
The survey closes on Friday 5 September.
