Netherlands and North Korea have secured their spots in Saturday’s FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Final at Rabat Olympic Stadium in Morocco.
The Dutch defeated Mexico in Wednesday’s semi-finals with a Lina Touzani goal midway through the second half. Reigning champions North Korea knocked out Brazil 2-0 as current tournament top scorer Yu Jong-hyang netted twice, including a penalty.
Brazil will play Mexico in the Third Place Match on Saturday at 3.30pm (GMT), followed by the final at 7pm with both matches streamed live on FIFA+.
The Netherlands’ progress to the final featured a very dramatic conclusion to their quarter-final with France. Despite going 2-0 down in added time, Rochelity Dap and Ranneke Derks responded to force a shoot-out, which was eventually decided in favour of the Dutch with the 18th penalty.
Although only finishing third in their group, in which they lost 5-1 to North Korea, the Netherlands eliminated the USA from the Round of 16, where Spain bowed out to France on penalties.
