Midweek Draws for Regional League Leaders Chesterfield and Thornaby

North East Regional League leaders Thornaby drew at home to Spennymoor Town, East Midlands League top team Chesterfield were goalless at SJR Worksop.

Thornaby dropped points for the first time in the North East League Premier Division, at home to second-placed Spennymoor Town. The visitors had led at half-time with Amy Richardson’s goal but Jennifer Knowles got the equaliser.

SJR Worksop and Chesterfield both followed up opening-day victories in the East Midlands League Premier Division with a goalless draw, hosted by the former.

Stamford got off the mark with a 2-0 success at Wellingborough Town, where Emma Pollard netted in either half.

First points too for Loughborough Foxes and Anstey, Hazel Cotton’s eighth-minute goal for the Vixens cancelled out after the break by substitute Paris Mallon on her debut for the Nomads.

Lincoln City’s match with Gainsborough Trinity was postponed.
