Bristol City’s Marine Dafeur scored the opening goal for Algeria at the 2026 Women’s AFCON (Africa Cup of Nations).
Dafeur – who had represented the French development teams – converted a 42nd-minute penalty to give Algeria a half-time lead over Senegal at Rabat Olympic Stadium.
Mélissa Bethi eventually sealed the win when doubling the lead in the last two minutes of the 90.
Tournament hosts Morocco had the game with Kenya all sewn up just after the break, as Ibtissam Jraïdi scored her second goal of the match to make it 4-0.
Sakina Ouzraoui and Ame Atiq had earlier both scored to give a two-goal advantage.
Group B kicks off on Monday, 27 July, as South Africa face Tanzania at 6pm (BST) in Casablanca, then three hours later Ivory Coast take on Burkina Faso.
