Manchester United Women were beaten 1-0 at SK Brann in the UEFA Women’s Champions League 3rd Qualifying Round 1st Leg.

Selma Panengstuen twice tipped away first-half efforts from Ella Toone, who set up a free header for Elisabeth Terland but it was well over the top, watched by a record crowd of 16,019 for a women’s club match in Norway.

Dominique Janssen had a shot spilled, Jess Park pouncing on the rebound the keeper covered it.

Into the last quarter of a hour and against the run of play, Ingrid Stenevik made the breakthrough for the hosts by heading home from a Signe Gaupset free kick.

Panengstuen again got a hand on an effort across goal from Toone, as Marc Skinner’s side were left with a deficit to overturn next week.
