Brighton were denied victory away to Man Utd Women in the Barclays WSL by a stoppage-time equaliser.

Jelena Čanković put a decent chance over the crossbar for Brighton, while United’s Melvine Malard saw her shot tipped around the post by Chiamaka Nnadozie.

Albion scored their first goal away to Manchester United when Phallon Tullis-Joyce’s ball out from the back was intercepted by Čanković, who calmly went around the goalkeeper to hit the back of the net.

Brighton were close to doubling their lead going into the last quarter of the match, as Madison Haley was almost able to turn in a Kiko Seike cross sliding in at the far post.

But the visitors couldn’t quite hold on as, in added time, Malard’s cross was swept home by substitute Lea Schuller.

The result put Albion one point clear in sixth place, while United will surely have to win their final match at Chelsea to have a chance of finishing in the Champions League positions.
