Chelsea narrowly made it three wins from three with victory over Leicester City, as despite an early goal they almost suffered a late setback.

A deflection fell to Aggie Beever-Jones behind the defence, to fire past goalkeeper Janina Leitzig and give Chelsea a seventh-minnute lead.

Leitzig twice denied Erin Cuthbert before tipping over a rocket from Keira Walsh in the last action of the first half.

In second-half added time, Rosella Ayane’s effort was turned onto the bar by Hannah Hampton, the rebound falling to Emily van Egmond who hit the ball over the top but was flagged offside anyway.

Brighton claimed a first win of the season when sending visitors West Ham to a 4-1 defeat.

Caitlin Hayes headed Albion one up from a Fran Kirby corner, Rosa Kafaji later in the first half finding Kiko Seike to drive home the second.

The Hammers halved the deficit soon after the resumption, Chiamaka Nnadozie bringing down Ffion Morgan in the box and Viviane Asseyi converted from the spot.

Kafaji restored the two-goal cushion before Marisa Olislagers found the far top corner from outside the box.
