Top of the Barclays WSL, Man City Women thrashed bottom side Leicester City 6-0 to go 11 points clear.

Alisha Lehmann was agonisingly close for Leicester, hitting the post and the ball rebounding across the goalmouth and away.

Vivianne Miedema was also denied by the upright at the other end, before Lauren Hemp’s cross was met with a stopping header into the net by Khadija Shaw.

Miedema gained possession and drilled the ball past goalkeeper Olivia Clark from the edge of the box to make it 2-0.

Shannon O’Brien hit the crossbar for the Foxes after Ayaka Yamashita parried a shot from Lehmann.

But it was again the hosts who were hitting the back of the net, as Miedema got her second with a header off Hemp’s delivery.

Problems were growing for the visitors as they conceded a fourth before the break, with Yui Hasegawa putting away the cutback by Kerolin.

It was 5-0 very soon after half-time with a rocket from Kerolin that Clark could only push into the top corner.

Aoba Fujino went around the keeper to finish, completing the scoring after 66 minutes.
