Manchester City extended their winning start to four games with a single-goal but dominant victory at Charlton.
Alex Greenwood gave Man City the lead at the Valley in the last 10 minutes of the first half, curling a 22-yard free kick inside the post.
Charlton’s Sophie Whitehouse pulled off a double save after the break, stopping Gracie Prior’s shot and then denying Grace Clinton’s follow-up.
Cassandra Korhonen’s header from eight yards out was saved by City keeper Eartha Cumings, while Charlton survived a goalmouth scramble to keep the deficit to one.
London City beat Brighton to make it three wins in four and go second in the table.
London City took the lead before the half-hour mark, with Chiamaka Nnadozie saving Grace Geyoro’s effort, but when Gabby George didn’t get enough on the clearance, Alexia Putellas was able to finish.
Brighton nearly grabbed a quick equaliser, but Emily Murphy’s header hit the bar. After the interval, the Lionesses’ Freya Godfrey saw her header strike the post.
The points were made safe in added time when, on the break, Delphine Cascarino crossed for Lucia Corrales to finish.
Burnley claimed their first-ever home point in BSWL2 with a goalless draw against Bristol City.
The first half saw Bristol on top and having their best opportunity when Rio Hardy headed over the crossbar from close range.
But City goalkeeper Fran Bentley had to time her challenge perfectly as she raced out to the side of the penalty area to halt a run into the box.
Bristol’s Maria Farrugia came inches from finding the top corner with a strike from the edge of the box, while the hosts picked it up in the second half and Charlie Wellings fired over from 18 yards out.
The result has the Clarets on two points from four games, Bristol City on four from as many matches.
