London City Lionesses have signed Dutch international Daniëlle van de Donk on a two-year contract following her departure from Lyon.

Van de Donk has 167 caps and 38 goals for the Netherlands, with whom she won the 2017 UEFA Women’s Euros.

A Lyon centurion, she helped them win the UEFA Women’s Champions League in 2022, after nearly 100 appearances for Arsenal in six WSL seasons.

Van de Donk told londoncitylionesses.com of her move: “It’s just such a nice environment to be in, the club really appeals to me, it reminds me of a little family, and I want to be a part of it!

“The project that London City have, it’s different but in a good way. London City have to battle for everything and that’s my style.”

London City Director of Football Ronald Thompson said: “I’ve known Daniëlle as a player for many years; she’s a great technician of the ball and can make the game tick.

“She has all of the positives you want from a player of her level. On top of that, she is a great person as well, so she is a great addition to the club.”
