Liverpool Women Win at Durham With Late Sam Kerr Goal

Liverpool Women made it back-to-back wins in the Subway Women’s League Cup with a late Sam Kerr goal at Durham on Thursday night.

Liverpool lost Sophie Roman Haug to injury but was replaced by Ceri Holland, who took just six minutes to open the scoring from 25 yards out.

Michaela Foster soon levelled direct from a corner but with four minutes left of the 90, Kerr finished from a cross by Holland.

Sunderland and Sheffield United continue the Group B games on Sunday, Manchester City and Nottingham Forest look to extend winning starts in Group A away at Everton and Newcastle respectively.

Brighton and Southampton chase three points to catch Group C leaders West Ham, Charlton’s fixture with Portsmouth is off due to a Pompey injury crisis.

London City and Leicester clash after victories in their opening matches in Group D, while Crystal Palace face Ipswich as both teams hope to register their first points.

A tight Group E table has Tottenham hosting Birmingham with two points each, while Bristol City and Aston Villa go head-to-head with a single point each.
