Lisa Forrest scored a quickfire brace as Glasgow City defeated Rangers 2-1 in the SWPL Sky Sports Cup Final at Fir Park.

Kim Shin-Ji hit the crossbar, and Katie Wilkinson missed a golden opportunity for Rangers in the first half.

Teenager Forrest met Lisa Evans’ corner at the far post to break the deadlock with 20 minutes left.

Moments later, Forrest fired a shot from just outside the box that flew past goalkeeper Jenna Fife, putting City in control.

Wilkinson did reply for Rangers but by that stage the 90 minutes were all but up.

Glasgow City’s 2-1 Sky Sports Cup final victory was their first in 11 years and ended a three-year domination of the trophy by Rangers.

It is also a record-equalling seventh such success, matching that of Hibernian and marking City’s first since 2015.
