Leicester City Women sign young goalkeeper Katie Keane from League of Ireland side Shamrock Rovers on a three-year contract.
She made history at just 16, becoming one of Shelbourne’s youngest ever league debutants before playing a pivotal role in Athlone Town’s FAI Cup triumph the following season.
In 2024, she firmly established herself as Athlone’s first-choice goalkeeper, playing every minute across 28 league and cup fixtures as they secured the league title. Her standout performances led to a move to Shamrock Rovers in January 2025.
She has had several Republic of Ireland squad call-ups, following her standout displays during the UEFA Women’s U-19 European Championship in Lithuania,
Speaking to Foxes Hub, Keane said: “It’s incredible to be here and I can’t wait to get started. The stadium looks fantastic and I’m looking forward to being here with our supporters in September.
“Shot-stopping and communication are my strongest attributes. It’s important to encourage your team-mates and that’s what I’d like to bring to the team.”
