England Women Under-23s beat Norway 1-0 with a Izzy Goodwin goal in the WU23 European competition at the Joie Stadium.

Lexi Lloyd-Smith’s ball across the box was knocked back toward goal by Keira Barry but went wide, while Erica Meg Parkinson also came close early on with a shot from the edge of the area.

Parkinson forced a save with another 20-yard effort, then after 25 minutes Izzy Goodwin connected with a firm header from Mari Ward’s cross to open the scoring.

Maisie Symonds gave Norway concerns on a couple of occasions, but England only had the one goal to show for a dominant first half performance.

Goalkeeper Thiril Erichsen got down to save from Goodwin, who later had the ball in the net but was given offside.

Norway had a rare chance in added time, but Gracie Prior made a crucial recovery to prevent them from going through on goal.

Although the game finished with just a single goal, England completely out-shot their visitors 23 attempts to one.

Emma Coates’ side play their last fixture of 2025 against the USA at Accrington Stanley’s Wham Stadium on Monday 1 December.
