Italy beat Norway 2-1 at the death to set up a UEFA Women’s EURO semi-final against England or Sweden on Tuesday 22 July.
Italy had chances as Arianna Caruso was inches wide under pressure, Cristiana Girelli and Emma Severini went for the same header, before the latter had a shot charged down by goalkeeper Cecilie Fiskerstrand.
Norway’s Ada Hegerberg had the ball deflect off her and wide from right in front of goal, while Signe Gaupset nearly caught Laura Giuliani off her line from over 40 yards out.

It was Italy who made the breakthrough five minutes after the restart, Girelli just onside as she prodded home a Sofia Cantore cross.
Cantore had the ball in the net herself very soon afterwards but the flag did go up for offside this time.
Before the hour mark Elena Linari gave away a penalty for dragging down Hegerberg, who put her spot kick wide.
Minutes later, Hegerberg beat the keeper to a ball over the top and slotted in the equaliser.

Cantore and Girelli combined again to restore Italy’s lead in the 90th minute, the latter heading into the net via the underside of the crossbar.
