Hibernian Women knock Rangers off the top of SWPL

Hibernian beat Rangers 2-0 to take over from them at the top of the ScottishPower Women’s Premier League.

Hearts goalless draw with Glasgow City left the latter third, as Hibernian jumped two places to pole position.

Kathleen McGovern headed Hibs into an early lead over Rangers and Stacey Papadopoulos doubled the advantage from 20 yards, as her side went top by two points.

Maria McAneny’s 64th-minute goal gave Celtic victory at Motherwell but the Hoops are six points off the top two.

Relegation Group

Aberdeen 5-2 Queen’s Park
Dundee United 0-1 Montrose
Partick Thistle 1-0 Spartans

Queen’s Park were relegated after a 5-2 defeat at Aberdeen, who had scored three times in the opening 18 minutes. Kerry Beattie, Hannah Stewart and Eva Thomson netted, Sophie Rutherford replying before Thomson got her second. Ami Robertson scored a second for the Spiders but Emily Kraft added a fifth for the Dons.

Partick Thistle moved four points in front of Spartans, whom they defeated with a Tiree Burchill goal midway through the second half.

Montrose have a little more hope of escaping a relegation play-off after winning at Dundee United, Jade McLaren scoring the sole goal on the hour mark.

Gartcairn 4-0 Livingston
Ayr United 0-1 Rossvale
Kilmarnock 2-1 Hamilton Academical

Kilmarnock beat leaders Hamilton Academical 2-1 to move within two points of them, Abby Robinson and Lucie Burns both scoring in the opening ten minutes.

Boroughmuir Thistle put five away at St Johnstone, four of those coming in the first half.

Gartcairn are eight points ahead of Livingston after defeating them 4-0, Rebecca Mcgowan featuring with a hat-trick.

Rossvale put five points between themselves and bottom side Ayr United, whom they beat 1-0 away with a late goal.
