Hearts Women trailed hosts Celtic twice before emerging 4-2 victors in the SWPL midweek programme.

Celtic 2-4 Hearts
Montrose 2-0 Aberdeen
Glasgow City 1-2 Rangers
Motherwell 1-1 Partick Thistle
Spartans 0-2 Hibernian

Defending champions Hearts leapfrogged Celtic into second position.

Maria McAneny scored twice for Celtic, but Ellen Dolan grabbed the first equaliser from distance and Carly Johns the second from the penalty spot.

Dolan doubled her tally with a volley after the break, and Mariana Speckmaier gave Hearts a two-goal cushion.

Rangers moved five points clear at the top with a 2-1 win at fourth-placed Glasgow City.

But it was City ahead at halftime, as goalkeeper Shu Ohba parried Emily Whelan’s shot and Kelly Brady buried the rebound.

Laura Berry levelled before the hour mark after goalkeeper Lee Gibson didn’t deal with an Eilidh Austin cross.

Within 10 minutes, the visitors had turned the match around as Katie Wilkinson caught the keeper off her line.

Hibernian closed to within a point of Glasgow City with a victory at Spartans.

Aoife Colvill made the breakthrough close to the hour mark with a header, following an effort from Scarlett Heron.

The win was sealed late on as Heron this time got her goal.

Motherwell let slip a lead but did go level on points with Spartans in seventh.

Lucy Ronald put them in front with a header, but Partick Thistle’s Sienna McGoldrick was awarded a penalty, which Rachel Donaldson converted.

Montrose won the basement battle with 10-player Aberdeen to go six points ahead of them.

The Dons lost Briana Salvetti after her 34th-minute handball on the goal line, which led to Kaela McDonald-Nguah scoring from the spot.

Louise Brown tapped home to double the advantage in the latter stages.
