Hearts won the ScottishPower Women’s Premier League despite defeat at neighbours Hibernian, as title rivals Rangers were thrashed by Glasgow City.

SWPL Final Day Results:

Celtic 1-1 Partick Thistle
Glasgow City 6-0 Rangers
Hibernian 2-0 Hearts

Rangers knew they had to win away to third-placed Glasgow City to have a chance of taking the top spot from Hearts but did not recover after going behind on 10 minutes to a Lana Golob goal.

Hayley Lauder and Lisa Forrest extended the advantage to 3-0 by the break, with Forrest going on to complete a hat-trick.

Emily Whelan also scored and Lisa Evans provided a trio of assists.

Eilidh Adams put Hibs ahead against the leaders, and a Carly Girasoli own-goal just after the half-hour mark made it 2-0.

But it mattered little at the end of the day to Hearts, who finished top of the table by two points to take the SWPL title for the first time ever.

Partick Thistle held Celtic to a 1-1 draw, Saoirse Noonan’s early goal for the Hoops cancelled out by Imogen Longcake later in the half.
