Hayley Ladd scored a late winner on her debut for Crystal Palace Women, sealing a victory over Sheffield United at Bramall Lane in Barclays WSL 2.

The Eagles’ Elise Hughes was denied by goalkeeper Sian Rogers, Hayley Nolan hit the post, and Abbie Larkin found the net but the flag was raised for offside.

Sheffield threatened as Eva Butler ran through on goal and tried to set up a teammate, only for Jamie-Lee Napier to clear.

Kirsty Howat won a free kick 20 yards out with four minutes left of the 90, and half-time substitute Ladd curled the set-piece into the top corner.

The result lifted Palace to fifth, level on points with fourth-placed Newcastle United, while the Blades remain ninth.
